Train Residue is Ruining Cars in Queens....ok so what is this stuff and where is it from?..."The mysterious liquid raining down from the elevated subway trains in Corona is certainly not mana from heaven."...and where exactly is this comming from?...."The rumble of the elevated trains over Roosevelt Avenue in Corona makes John Trigo and his neighbors take their cars and run for cover because for several months now the cars parked by, or driven under, the el have been hit with gobs of an unidentified chemical that eats away their car finishes.

“It’s not sap from a tree, I brought it to my paint shop, my car wash, nobody can do anything,” says Stephen Scharfstein, a local businessman.

“You can see it stripped the finish right off of the lacquor and the paint,” says another frustrated resident.

If you walk down the street or look at cars in the parking lots you see dozens marked with the rust-like lines and spots.
