San Gennaro and Vito Picone and The Elegants
September 22, 2007
I was prepared to go after work. Me, myself and I. Walking to work, started to rain. I only had a trash bag in my bag-as I always carry one in case it rains or I buy something big that I need to carry for blocks. But I needed something to protect my head from the rain so I stopped at the local trash cans on the curbs of the Chelsea streets and found a whole newspaper. It looked clean so I took it out and began to walk my 10 blocks to work with newspaper over my head and Tough Tight trash bag covering my bag because I did have my good camera in it. I was a sight, oh yeah, good thing I was alone at that point...I did get to work and my clothes were so very wet but I seemed to dry off while i was working and the rain stopped within 2 hours which made me very happy. So I began my mission to Mulberry St and hoped that I did not miss Vito Picone and The Elegants perform. They are one of my favorite bands from long ago. Just in case after the performance, I always bring a Sharpie Pen for autographs. I have met some famous people and am truely blessed to have worked with some.
I made it to San Gennaro and got Zeppolies (I probably spelled that wrong), a Chocolate Canoli filled while I paid and of course my sausage and peppers.
As I was walking I heard the music I loved and it was Vito Picone and The Elegants!!! and the photos I got (even with me in it, as I am almost never in any & always behind the camera, not this time, I handed it to a stranger, yes, I took a chance...)and autographs!!! I was so very happy and flying that I did not want to go home as of yet but also wished that I had someone to share this with.
I decided to get some zeppolies for later and a calzone. Out comes my trash bag! Ya know why right? I have to walk and carry the food, but it has lots of oil so the trash bag (not used for trash) is a great way to carry things...and this type is very fashionable with a red handle! Aren't you glad you were not with me????? LOL....if I did have someone with me I would have not stopped at the trash can to get a newspaper or even taken out the very fashionable trash bag...
Thanks for listening...
